Perkerson Park

A green oasis shared by the Sylvan Hills, Capitol View and Capitol View Manor neighborhoods, Perkerson Park (770 Deckner Ave., SW) is almost 50 acres of trees, babbling stream, picnic areas, a large pavilion, and recently renovated baseball fields surrounded by a walking path. It is also a frequent home for one of the best disc golf courses in the Atlanta area.

Perkerson Park has been the host site for Congressman John Lewis’ annual multicultural festival in July, the annual “Neighborhood Night Out” sponsored by City Councilmember Joyce Sheperd in August, and the annual “House In the Park” festival.

Perkerson Park Ballfields

The ballfields serve as the primary site for L.E.A.D., a non-profit program for inner city teens ages 14-18 playing competitive baseball in high school to prepare them to compete for college baseball scholarships while teaching values of community service and personal responsibility (www.lead2legacy.org).

Friends of Perkerson Park (FOPP) is a group of neighborhood volunteers committed to supporting and enhancing Perkerson Park. FOPP’s grassroots efforts to organize park events, advocate for increased park services, and improve our local greenspace is done with the support of Park Pride (www.parkpride.org). They also have a blog featuring the latest news & updates.
