Metropolitan Branch Library
Opening in October of 2015, the new Metropolitan Branch Library occupies a prominent site in our community located on Metropolitan Parkway at the intersection of multiple neighborhoods. At 25,000 square feet, the modern interior offers a totally open floor plan that is filled with bright natural light. The branch offers free computer and Internet access, study rooms, and meeting rooms, as well as the usual library resources like books, movies, and CDs. Kids and Young Adults will find special sections with material directed specifically towards them.
The design for the building reflects its location with strong simple geometric volumes knitted together by circulation pathways. The exterior civic plaza, which features the columns and stain glass windows from a church that once stood on the site, and pocket park provide opportunities for community functions in an urban green setting. The library hosts art exhibits and offers educational programs, in addition to providing a space that seats 84 people for community meetings.
